Stony Ridge Foods is a family-owned and managed business effectively on its third generation. Dan and Jeena Hughes acquired the property in 2000 and formed the distinct business entity around it in 2001. But the family’s involvement in dry bean production in their region is more historic; Dan’s father Thomas Hughes virtually introduced dry bean farming decades ago. In essence, SRF is the culmination of his efforts. Joe and Jessica Wrobleski were “ground-floor” employees to the SRF startup, and therefore did not just follow in Dan and Jeena’s wake, but additionally, were part of the learning and discovery process in bringing the original facility on line. Therefore they are highly-experienced veterans of Stony Ridge and with the advice and consent of the board, and especially of Jeena Hughes, have been largely responsible for the day-to-day management of the business, including its significant growth since Dan’s very premature passing in 2019.
